Field Trip!
The Field Trip! students travel throughout the Twin Cities, visiting cultural institutions, art studios, exhibitions, grassroots organizations, restaurants, museums, nature centers, trails, beaches and parks.
Field Trip! scholars are not just learning about the world – they are part of it.
What You’ll Learn
Children have an innate desire to make sense of the world, and Field Trip! provides a safe, nurturing, environment in which all children can experiment, reflect, develop understandings, make connections and become active participants in their own learning. During each excursion, they engage with their environment, interact with people and educational materials, through their own inquiry and by following their own curiosity towards the goal of becoming lifelong learners.
These educational field trip opportunities allow students to engage with, create in, and explore the world around them. Through art, STEM, play, cooking, simplicity, and wonder, Field Trip! helps students envision the roles they play in the world around them.

Program Structure
The essence of Field Trip! is to become an active participant in one’s own education as well as the surrounding world. Students work together to develop a theme for the term, while their educational guide develops a carefully curated program of hands-on workshops and field trips. Each student who participates in Field Trip! will develop a personal commitment to learning, a respect for independent thinking, and an expanding curiosity about the world and its people.
Field Trip! combines the worlds of visual arts, STEM, culinary arts, math, literature, and history in order for students to express themselves creatively and use their imaginations freely.
What’s Included
Tuition covers all program materials, and includes professional instruction and class time, workshops, books, gallery admission, transportation, docent-led field trips, museum admission, and theater tickets.
Session Length
Field Trip! is offered as an eight-week course. This time frame offers students the opportunity to explore the Twin Cities metropolitan area using a multidisciplinary approach. starts with the child and the child’s unique interests and goals. No two terms are alike: as a dedicated progressive education program, the real-world learning opportunities offered are curated based on student interest. This collective appetite for learning allows for students to form strong friendship bonds, build confidence, and feel connected to the world around them.
Field Trip! meets the following Thursdays from 10:00 AM-2:45 PM*:
October 8, 15, 22, 29 November 5, 12, 19 December 3
*optional early drop-off is at 9:30 AM
Age Groups
Programs are designed for students 8 to 15 years old, with students working alongside one another throughout the term. Instruction, activities, and community are tailored to meet all learners at each developmental stage. This nurturing learning community helps create a safe, close-knit environment where students can feel at home.
