Script to Stage: Mystery!
In-depth, unique, and hands-on, Script to Stage is the perfect fit for all types of learners–not just those who enjoy being on stage. Weekly classes guide students through acting, screenwriting, and stagecraft, with small groups that allow for plenty of individual attention. Theater-educators balance rehearsal and skill-building with improvisation and creative play, so each day feels both focused and energizing. Read and discover, view a play, solve a mystery, and create your own stage production with classmates!
What You’ll Learn
Students will step into the world of storytelling, exploring how voice, movement, and imagination bring characters to life. With support from theater-educators, they’ll discover the thrill of rehearsal, the joy of improvisation, and the confidence that comes from sharing a story on stage.
Script to Stage: Mystery! offers a unique intersectional approach to learning by connecting the crux of the theatrical world to the visual arts, community service, STEM, culinary arts, media literacy, and environmental education. Through the interdisciplinary efforts honed in the classroom, onstage, at a workshop, or on a field trip, students develop self-advocacy, critical thinking, and independence. This dynamic course, along with The Northern Lights, is part of an innovative and welcoming weekly co-operative learning program.

Program Structure
This class is in-depth and hands-on, and the perfect fit for all types of learners–not just those who enjoy being on stage. Weekly classes guide students through acting, screenwriting, and stagecraft, with small groups that allow for plenty of individual attention. Theater-educators balance rehearsal and skill-building with improvisation and creative play, so each day feels both focused and energizing. Opportunities to view a magical performance of everyone’s favorite modern day mystery classic (Clue) live on stage at the Orpheum Theatre—as well as read and watch a live adaptation of The Secret Garden—await students. At the end of the term, they will also perform their interpretation of the whimsical classic Beware the House on Haunted Hill live on stage for their friends and families!
What’s Included
Tuition includes professional instruction and class time, books, field trips, full access to theater spaces—from rehearsal studios to the main stage—along with costumes, props, and set materials so students can fully dive into their productions.
Session Length
The Phoenix Project Co-op program offers classes on the trimester system. Students can enroll in either one or two of the Wednesday offerings, depending on how immersive they’d like their term to be. One class offers a vibrant introduction and plenty of time to grow, while two classes allow for deeper projects and stronger community bonds. Both options promise an opportunity packed with experiential learning, creativity and adventure.

*students enrolled in only one course may join all other students for lunch/free time from 11:30-12:30
^make it a full day (10:00 AM-2:20 PM) by enrolling in both The Northern Lights and Script to Stage: Mystery!; complimentary early drop-off (9:30 AM) and late pick-up (2:45 PM) are available
Age Groups
Programs are designed for students 8 to 15 years old, with students working alongside one another throughout the term. Instruction, activities, and community are tailored to meet all learners at each developmental stage. This nurturing learning community helps create a safe, close-knit environment where students can feel at home.
